Description
Djura Papharhaji “has claimed poetry as his fatherland and has found a point of stability in a world of shifting political systems and national boundaries, not only for himself, but also for his people.”
These words, from the introduction by Professor Elaine Rusinko, best describe the vision of the Vojvodinian Rusyn writer Djura Papharhaji, whose poetry has been translated into English by Slavomir Olejar. It is this collection, Journey to the South, that garnered the poet the Aleksander Dukhnovych Prize for the best work in Rusyn literature.
