Description

As a child, Luba Czerhoniak Fedash experienced the horrors of World War II in her homeland of Lemkovyna, followed by the forced resettlement policy of Operation Vistula, in which the Polish Government forced thousands of people out of the homes and villages to be dispersed throughout western Poland, known as Silesia.

At the age of sixteen, she emigrated to the United States to join her father in New Jersey, leaving her mother and brothers behind. Once there, she struggled to learn English and to get an education that would enable her to become a productive citizen of her new country. Luba’s story is an example of how love, faith, and determination can help us as we triumph over seemingly insurmountable odds.

Blossoms on a Rooftop is the exciting story of her early life, first as a child forced to grow up much too fast by the horrors of Nazi occupation, then as a young girl caught up in Vistula (Akcja Wisla), and finally as in immigrant teen trying to make a new life for herself in the United States. Luba’s determination and her love of God and Nature saw her through to ultimate triumph over adversity and a happy life in her adopted country.
